I am invigorated and excited about what is in store for Ingenuity students this school year! What inspires me most is our students, and I was honored to spend meaningful time with them this summer.
In July, I had the pleasure of co-teaching introductory lessons on Artificial Intelligence to 8th graders alongside Ingenuity’s Admissions and Data Manager, Ashley Patrick, who has become our resident expert through the aiEDI teacher training program. In August, I got to engage our rising 9th graders as they brought Ingenuity’s Core Values to life through creative skits.
Beyond our classrooms, my commitment to our students’ future has also driven my work in the broader Baltimore community. Earlier this year, I became a proud member of The Leadership Class of 2026, a 9-month experience bringing together 60 leaders across Baltimore’s public, private, and nonprofit sectors to explore our city’s history, challenges, and assets. As part of this journey, I participated in a police ride-along in July, seeing Baltimore through a different lens. This experience strengthened my resolve to ensure students from every neighborhood have access to advanced STEM education, empowering us to build Baltimore’s future workforce from within.

From July 6 through July 16, Ingenuity staff hosted over 150+ middle schoolers in our summer academies for grades 6 through 8. Special thanks to our teachers, staff, and our volunteers who made the two week experience invaluable for our young scholars.

From August 4 through 6, Ingenuity rising Juniors participated in a 3-day program hosted at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Students participated in workshops and lectures focused on Ingenuity Core Values, writing for research, Artificial Intelligence, and Coding Python and R.

From August 11 – 13, Ingenuity rising 9th graders attended our 3-day retreat hosted at Johns Hopkins University. Scholars attended workshops led by Ingenuity staff and Poly teachers, and enjoyed a day adventure with Outward Bound Baltimore.

Ingenuity Project is excited to celebrate another remarkable achievement for Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings!
Poly recently climbed to #279 in the nation (top 1%), #6 in Maryland, and #2 in the Baltimore metro area, while continuing to hold the distinction of being the #1 high school in Baltimore City Public Schools.
Special shout out to Principal Sawyer, Poly’s dedicated faculty and staff, students, all Poly families for their hard work and commitment to excellence!
